My name is Yazz Topchik. I am very happy to be a part of the Lovejoy family. Prior to working at Hart last year as the Dyslexia therapist, I served as an instructional aide at Willow Springs Middle School for 5 years. It was while working there that I found the love to work with children with learning differences. The past two years, I was given the opportunity to work as the dyslexia specialist at Hart Elementary while going through intense training through Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. I completed my course work, and I passed the certified exam; I am now a Certified Academic Language Therapist. This year will be by 8th year working in Lovejoy ISD and I am thrilled to be the dyslexia therapist for Hart Elementary and Willow Springs Middle School!
My family and I moved to Lucas, TX in 2011, from Delray Beach, FL. I moved to Florida right after I married my husband in 2005. When we decided to move back to Texas, we chose to move to Lucas due to Lovejoy ISD's exemplary schools. I have a thirteen (soon to be fourteen) year old daughter, Caroline, who is in the 8th grade at Willow Springs MS. My son, Ethan, is 11 years old and is in the 6th grade at Sloan Creek Intermediate School.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from Texas Woman's University. After graduating from college I moved to Cairo, Egypt for one year where I taught English, math and science to second graders in a private English school.
It gives me great pleasure to work with the students at HES and WSMS and help them achieve their academic potential.
