Today, we had the honor of recognizing Board President, Julie McLaughlin, at Hart Beat. Our Hart Ambassadors warmly welcomed her upon arrival, and the entire Hart community gave her a standing ovation as she entered the assembly. The Ambassadors introduced Ms. McLaughlin, where she was presented with tokens of appreciation from the Hart PTO and Hart Elementary.
Our Hart Buddies shared heartfelt cards from students, and Ms. McLaughlin was surprised when her son presented her with flowers, with her parents also in attendance. The entire 4th grade class beautifully sang “You Can Count on Me” in celebration, making the moment even more meaningful. Ms. McLaughlin also had the special opportunity to present the ROAR and Principal Awards to our student recipients and share words of wisdom with our Hart Ambassador leaders.

Our 3rd and 4th grade teams came together for vertical team work in both RLA and Math. Reading teachers engaged in the analysis of the 2025 STAAR RLA Extended Constructive Responses (ECR), to develop success criteria for students, and plan explicit instruction for student growth. I'm math, the teachers focused on raising the bar for rigor to ensure small group and math stations are purposeful and impactful.
1st grade students engaged in solving word problems in math, engaged in independent reading partner reading, and small group reading with a focus on decoding text.
Hart Kindergartners were using a familiar book to make connections when they read. Students made connections to what they like to do with their best friend by representing their connection in picture form, followed with completing the sentence stem, We like to ____.

4th graders exploring in math the concept of area through cooperative learning with the integration of recording the notice and wonderings to determine the learning objective.
It was awesome seeing Ms. Hicks in action modeling a writing mini lesson in 1st grade with a teach piece of students using words to create sentences on a topic of their choice. She modeled and conferred with students who were more than excited to share their writing.
