3rd grade students are engaged in transforming their creatures from a 2D form to 3D form using clay and the method of slip and score, before they go into the kiln. This project incorporated art standards, geometry, and writing. We cannot wait to see the finished products.

Ms. Balmer's second graders were excited to learn during their Readers workshop block. It was great watching them learn during Shared Reading, Phonics, and the Mini Lesson before they transitioned to independent reading.

Ms. Hertweck's class engaged in their book boxes.

We cannot wait to welcome back our students and staff from Fall Break. Don't forget tomorrow is "Warming Up for the 2nd Quarter." Students and staff are encouraged to come ready to start the week in warm-up gear, pajamas, and/ or hats. See you in the morning.

What a way to start our Friday by having LHS Football, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, & Wrestling welcoming students as they arrived this morning and then reading to our students.

We had a great surprise this morning as Hart was visited by Coach Leech and the LOJO Baseball Team. They helped with car line, greeted students, and read to all of our kindergarten and 1st grade students, and a few 2nd grade classeooms. Thank you for starting our Friday morning off positively.

Amazing learning happening at Hart. Today we saw students finding sight words during shared reading and then move into conferring with their writing pieces. Some of our writers were beginning to add speech bubbles to bring their characters to life.

2nd grade is focused on their reading and writing as students engage in publishing their stories where they are learning to hook their readers at the beginning of their stories. 2nd grade has also been utilizing shared reading time during Reader's Workshop to focus on retelling, phonics, and fluency this week.

Ms. Moody modeled and engaged parents in a small group lesson using decodable readers during the Early Literacy Parent Information session. It was such a great experience to see all the intentionality that comes into meeting the needs of our students.

It was a pleasure to watch Ms. Anderson engage parents in one portion of a student's Reader's Workshop block by modeling a Shared Reading lesson during the Early Literacy Parent Information sessions.

Say Cheese! Tomorrow is picture day at Hart.
